Overcoming Bullying

Bullying is something that has a lasting impact - more than people realize, and it happens in so many different ways—at school, online, or even in social groups. Looking back, I can think of several times I saw bullying happen but wasn’t sure how to help. It’s not always easy to step in, but even small actions can make a big difference.

Recognizing Early Signs of Bullying

Bullying can have lasting effects on a child’s emotional and physical well-being, but early recognition can help prevent these outcomes. Whether a child is being bullied or is the one bullying others, identifying the early signs allows parents, teachers, and caregivers to intervene before the situation worsens.

Empowering Bystanders

The presence of bystanders can significantly influence the dynamics of bullying. Thinking back, I can recall many times when I was a bystander and unsure of what to do. Can you try to stand up for the victim or do you freeze under the pressure unsure of how to handle the situation. This reaction has a big impact, even if you don’t realize it at the time.
